Behind Borde + Kurv

The meaning of Borde + Kurv is deeply rooted in my strong Norwegian heritage. Growing up, my Norwegian grandmother’s home was where we gathered. It was filled with seaside treasures—shells of every kind, rock sculptures she created by hand, and pieces of driftwood collected along the shore. In her kitchen, there was always a wooden board set with cheese and crackers, a good bottle of wine, Perrier, and a basket packed and ready for a spontaneous picnic by the beach or in the countryside.

Every time I stepped into her home, I felt both comforted and inspired. These moments remain some of my most cherished memories.

The Art of Gathering, to me, is about being present with the people you love—coming together to experience something meaningful, unhurried, and special. It’s about pausing for a moment. It’s gathering around delicious food and drink, laughing, connecting, and savoring not only who you’re with, but what you’re tasting. This is the heart of Borde + Kurv.

It also represents gathering artisans—both local and global—and honoring the beauty of their work. Through travels with my family, I’ve been endlessly inspired by the craftsmen we’ve encountered along the way. I’m drawn to pieces that are unique, visually striking, and truly one of a kind. This, too, is the essence of Borde + Kurv.

Whether inspired by something close to home or discovered on one of our adventures, I find great joy in gathering these pieces—so they can be shared and enjoyed by you.
