The meaning behind the Name
The meaning of Borde & Kurv comes from my very strong Norwegian heritage. When I was growing up my Norwegian grandmother’s house was where we gathered. It was full of treasures from the beach, shells of all kinds, rock sculptures that she had created & all sorts of driftwood collected from the seaside. There was always a wooden board in the kitchen filled with cheese & crackers, a good bottle of wine, Perrier & a basket packed ready for a spontaneous beach or countryside picnic. I felt comforted and inspired every time I stepped foot into her house. Those are some of my most beloved memories.
The “Art of Gathering” to me represents being with the ones you love, gathering together to experience something very special, in the moment. Taking a moment. It also means gathering around some delicious food and drink laughing & loving who you are with & what your palate is tasting. This is the essence of Borde + Kurv.
It also represents gathering local & global artisans together, appreciating & supporting their work. I have traveled around the world with my family & have found much inspiration from the craftsmen I have come across. I find beauty in items that are unique, visually stunning, one of a kind. This is also the essence of Borde + Kurv. Whether it be local inspiration or something I have found on one of our adventures, I find much joy in gathering them up- for you to enjoy.
